At last, a politician not afraid to highlight how public money is being wasted – I have to warn you though, you won’t have many friends when you turn up at Westminster next May!
I am certainly not alone in pointing out how wasteful and inefficient many of these Quangos are. There are many MP’s – particularly Conservative ones – who are saying the same.
We have to balance the books, and find billions in savings, I would suggest that Quangos are as good a place to start as anywhere.
Too true. And I’m not too fond of these “dress down days” either, which seem to becoming an everyday occurence!
(And whilst we’re on the subject, change of photo on your blog to one with you wearing a tie wouldn’t go amiss either!).

We might not have the pink flamingos, the vast array of art-deco buildings and the Ferrari Testarossa, but Erith & Thamesmead does has mile after mile of shoreline.

MPs’ expenses: John Austin makes £30,000 on flat – A Labour MP claimed more than £10,000 in expenses for the redecoration of his London flat, which was 11 miles from his main home, before selling it for a profit.
“………to behave in an unrighteousness way is something that is open to everyone”.
I seriously doubt that this kind of excessive expenses claim at the taxpayers expense is “open to everyone”!!!
Agreed, I can’t defend what many MP’s especially John Austin has done.
The sums of money involved are huge.
My point was a general one.

Proportional Representation? It doesn’t work – just look at Italy for an example.
Besides which, with first past the post at least you know which politician you’re voting for – all the more relevant now that we know how corrupt and dishonest some politicians have been over their expenses.
Thank god one political voice is listening. we are calling for zero tolerance in our area where yobs are unpoliced after 2am. the town has numerous licenced premises. We are in a Conservative area where george Osborne has not even responded to us

Well, he was elected by the voters of Kircaldy and Cowdenbeath. In a parliamentary system, I suppose it’s always wrong to say that the prime minister was elected by anyone other than his own constituency, but the personalities of the parties’ leaders do seem to play more of a role than they did even 15 or 20 years ago.
